In the modern world, smartphones are gaining popularity not only for their functionality to text or search but to take photos, perhaps to cherish the memory. According to this week’s lesson regarding smartphone photography, there are a few principles to enhance the quality of the pictures. Although I agree with some parts of the points mentioned in the post, I believe that the quality of a photo is highly dependent on the quality of the smartphone. Photos taken by an outdated device will not have precise details like the glow, sharpness, depth, and coloring balance; however, the standard will always improve as the technology develops day by day. Hence, I consider that this enhancement of the smartphone decides whether the photo has high quality or not. Sorry if my opinion was a little too far from this week’s topic discussion.
Here are some of the photos that I took with iPhone 7 & 13
I have used different elements for each photo to distinguish the characteristics. When I took the scenery of Downtown Vancouver, I used studio light mode, which is an original function on iPhone. Then I adjusted the shadows and added extra lightning effects to add glow and contrast. I utilized the same type of effects for the city center. Moreover, in some cases, I tend to adjust the angles when taking a scene. For instance, as you can see in the two pictures: summer in Bali and UVic library, I wanted to create a certain depth. Although it was better to add some additional elements for the latter photo, I adjusted the lighting contrast for the former one.
This is a video that genuinely makes me think that iPhone is one of the most outstanding smartphones among any other brands that actually captures the atmosphere or vibe. You will know what I mean by watching this video.

Thank you for your reply, Anum.
I have added a little more information about what I focused on while and after taking the photo. There are only a few elements that I have utilized, and they are all the original functions implemented on iPhone. Perhaps, I can demonstrate to you in the future.
Again, thanks for the advice.

Hi Shidhi,
Thank you for your comment and compliments. Yes, I definitely focused on contrast, and in order to do so, I adjusted lighting and shadows.
It doesn’t take that much time so I doing it. You can easily do it through the functions on the camera roll.
Again, thank you.

Hi Atomu,
Your pictures are really beautiful! I think you did a great job at perspective, composition and leading lines as well as the lighting!
I completely agree with you that the phone’s age and quality will determine how good its photographs are. My phone is starting to get a little outdated, so it definitely doesn’t take as good of pictures as a brand new phone would!

Thank you Tyanna. I appreciate hearing your agreements on my comment. I really think that recent iPhone has an overwhelming power and quality in term of camera and display. Although most of my pictures here in my blog post are taken by iPhone7, they still look decent. I hope you will enjoy capturing scenes and moments with your upgraded iPhone in the future.

Thank you for sharing your photos, I love seeing the difference between the phones, I don’t agree that iPhones are the best for photography I think there are lots of phones that compete with iPhone. I do agree older phones do lack some setting qualities and as time goes on.
atomin
Thank you Saelex. Indeed, you are right about the fact that iPhone is not the number one smartphone in terms of photography; however, there are always advantage and disadvantage. I feel that iPhone has more advantage in terms of photography function more than any other smartphones. Not the best in display perhaps, but still good overall.

Hi Atomu!
Your photos are amazing! They look very professional, neat, and eye-catching. I feel like I want to use them as my wallpaper! The airplane photo looks very cool because of the lines that the cloud and light creates, as well as the beautiful colour it reflects.
I don’t have any special camera so I have always been using my iphone to take photos, but I agree that it is one of the best tool to use when taking photos! I’ve heard of the cinematic mode on 11 pro, but I didn’t know it was THIS good until I saw the video you posted! I might need to consider an upgrade. hmm.. haha
Thank you for sharing!
